About Sofia

When you choose me as a tutor, you can feel confident knowing your child is working with a professional educator who prioritizes trust and high-quality instruction. I currently work in a school setting, which means I’ve completed all required background checks, clearances, and professional trainings needed to work closely with students. I approach tutoring with the same level of professionalism, structure, and care that I bring into my classroom every day. My experience working with diverse learners has taught me how to build strong, respectful relationships while maintaining clear expectations and academic goals. Families can expect consistent communication, prepared lessons, and a supportive learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes. Above all, I take my responsibility as an educator seriously; your child’s growth, confidence, and well-being always come first.

If you’re looking for a tutor who truly understands how students learn and how to meet them where they are, you’re in the right place. I bring hands-on classroom experience as a 4th and 6th grade math teacher, along with a strong background in ESL and ELA, allowing me to support students across subjects while building confidence and academic skills. I’m a proud Virginia Tech graduate and am currently pursuing my Master’s in Elementary Education, which means I’m consistently learning and applying the most effective, research-based teaching strategies. I know that learning isn’t one-size-fits-all, so I tailor each tutoring session to a student’s unique needs, learning style, and goals. Whether your child needs help strengthening foundational math skills, improving reading and writing, or building confidence as an English learner, I focus on clear explanations, patience, and strategies that make concepts truly click. My approach is supportive, structured, and encouraging, helping students improve academically while gaining confidence and independence as learners.
