About Sydney
-I am currently finishing my Doctor of Occupational Therapy, so creating lessons that are accessible and welcoming to all is a priority to me.
-I have taken piano lessons myself from age 5-18 at my local piano studio, where I also began giving piano lessons to younger students during my high school years. I began teaching students of all ages (5-60+) as I gained more experience, as well as adapting to virtual lessons during the COVID years. Throughout my undergraduate experience, I continued taking lessons myself in piano with highly established professionals to earn my minor in piano performance--mainly because I was not quite ready to give up music just yet :)
-Music is a passion of mine, and I stuck through so many years of lessons because I had a teacher who taught me through fun games and songs that made me excited to learn. This is exactly the approach I offer to my students, and I am excited to share it with others.

Teaching Method:
From years of in-person and online teaching experience, I have learned that lessons are more effective when students are engaged! While still utilizing lesson plan books to gradually progress skill, I also like to include work that is student-led, such as learning your favorite song on the radio. I prefer to use engaging strategies, such as note reading or music theory games, while also considering student interests for motivation!
Typical Lesson Plans:
I understand each student has different priorities, so I consider this heavily while I plan each lesson. Whether you are looking to start a fun, new hobby or looking to master your technical skill, I have the resources and experience to support different goals. To achieve this, a lesson will include:
-Music learning strategy (note reading or music theory game)
-Piano lesson book series (1-2 songs to progress piano skill)
-1 preferred song (maybe it's your favorite Taylor Swift song, a song you found on YouTube that you think sounds pretty, or anything else that you would like!)

-Any Skill level (beginner through advanced)
