About Nia
I am a recent graduate of West Chester University and I am currently in the process of getting my Masters in teaching. I say this to show that I am a huge advocate for the advancement of education. In all my years of schooling, I have struggled in just about every area. In all those areas, I had strong tutors that helped me to get where I am today and I want to be that same person for my students. I will work with you, and am willing to give my all. All I ask in return is that you do the same thing. Tutoring is only effective when both parties are BOTH in agreement to work hard and with intentionality.
ALL students are capable of learning and doing better in school, so I will do everything in my power to make sure my students are learning and doing their best. I am a certified special education teacher, so I have many resources and skills to help all type of learners to learn and acquire information.

As a tutor, my focus is on the best way my student retains information. We all do not learn the same, so my first session will be dedicated to how you learn (visual, kinesthetic, or auditory) and the ways I can make sure you are grasping the information as much as possible.
A typical tutoring session will start with what information you know and then we will go on to what you need to know. My goal as a tutor is for you to leave with as much enhanced knowledge as possible, so that you leave confident on the information you have already been given in class. I also want to make sure that you are given a preview of what you are going to be learning in your next class. What I have realized as a student who received tutoring and who has taught students this way, is that having a preview of what will be learned in the next class, prior to instruction, really helps in grasping the information.
The end of sessions will be dedicated to intentional grounding and goal setting. My goal as a tutor is for students to leave with goals to intentionally strive towards prior to our next session.
All of my sessions are for any grade level and can be modified to fit any specific disabilities or age.
