I approach English tutoring by encouraging the student to recognise thematic and linguistic patterns in the texts they are studying. Beyond this, I believe that knowledge of the socio-historic context in which a text is written enriches a student's understanding of the author's intention. I have a broad knowledge of literature from medieval to modern periods.
