About Fatou
My name is Fatou Sourang and I am a pianist and a composer. I started studying music since I was ten, and I have always been very passionate and enthusiastic about music. I have completed my bachelor's in piano performance in Italy with a first-class degree with honours, and my master's in piano performance at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Dinstiction. I started studying composition when I was 15, and since my early beginning, I always displayed hard work and dedication, with great academic achievements. I studied Composition with the Italian composer and theorist Alberto Ezio Colla, and currently, I am attending a master of music in composition at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, under the guide of Ed Bennet, Amber Priestley, and Trish Clowes. Many of my pieces have been performed on various occasions and festivals in Italy with good impressions from the audience members.

I have been a tutor for a few years, teaching music theory to students. My approach is based on making sure that the student has all the tools and knowledge required. Each student's process of learning is unique, that is why, in my lessons, I always put the students' needs first. I like to deliver personalized lessons for each student, creating the most efficient and useful academic plan, based on their level. The length of my lessons is 1 hour, but it can go for 1 hour and a half if needed.
My usual lesson is a mix of theoretical and practical approaches. While explaining concepts and main topics about the subject, I always deliver exercises to do with my supervision. I do believe in hard work and dedication, therefore, I like to challenge my students with exercise and topics that might be difficult at first, but very useful in the end. My goal is to provide the best quality teaching I can give so that my students will be confident about their skill and knowledge.
