I graduated from the University of Surrey in Psychology (Bsc) with First class honours (2019), and feel confident teaching this at A level and university level. I have particularly good knowledge of statistics and critical thinking, both crucial skills for understanding the key principles of psychology research.
I achieved A*s in both Biology and Fine Art A levels (2015), and A*s in the respective GCSEs (2013). I feel I have all the required knowledge to help a student at both GCSE and A level, understanding the core principles of both subjects, but also how a student may excel and achieve those higher marks.
I have worked with NCS the Challenge as an art teacher (2016), managing large classes of children who were not specialised in art. I have also worked on an individual level as a tutor to multiple students, including those with learning difficulties. I ran the University of Surrey Art society for two years. All this experience means I am confident in my ability to teach students of all ages and levels.
I also worked as a university tutor in Psychology during my time studying, and as a partnered 'study buddy' to a younger student during my time at 6th form. This experience has helped me understand that teaching a subject requires patience, understanding and creativity to help others make breakthroughs in areas they are trying to improve. The most important thing for a tutor is to understand the individual needs of each student, and modifying teaching styles to create an environment in which that individual can learn at their best potential.
