About Marcelo

"Tell me about yourself", this is what they ask me, as if it were something simple. This is perhaps one of the most difficult questions in all of Philosophy. Socrates, in search of that answer (know thyself) remained uncertain all his life. Far from wanting to go further, I will content myself with giving some good ones that, as a student, I would like in a Philosophy teacher. I believe that patience, dedication and professionalism are fundamental elements. If the student is not understanding most of the time, it has nothing to do with himself, but because I, as an educator, am not managing (yet!) to make him understand.

Philosophy can sometimes seem like a bully, and there's nothing more disheartening than a teacher who puts himself above his students, who often wants to show off his philosophical baggage, regardless of whether his students are following. I consider this an addiction of some know-it-all intellectuals. I, in turn, am always happy when students ask me a question and I say "Oh my! I never thought of that!" Philosophy was born as dialogues that sought knowledge. If in the process of teaching I can learn something together, it's because philosophy is happening. You see, none of this means.

I opted for a more informal presentation. But I kindly ask you to check my Lattes curriculum to check my education, credentials and academic degrees, specialized production, and so on.

I had the opportunity to teach classes both for newcomers to the philosophy course and for high school students, which made me see the need for different approaches in each particular case. Just as not everyone thinks in the same way, there is also no universal rule on how to teach Philosophy - which goes through the history of ideas - each one learns in a specific way and it is up to the teacher to identify the teaching techniques that are most beneficial to their students. students. Therefore, the class methodology varies according to the demands, difficulties and particularities of the students. As an example, to undergraduate students we usually teach Directed Studies courses, with a previously defined author and theme, in order to present them with the rigor, for example, of the structural analysis method; in this case, the confrontation with the text is considered indispensable. On the other hand, for high school students, I consider it essential to bring the philosophical themes par excellence to current and day-to-day issues, so that they perceive critical reasoning not as a mere curricular subject, but as a practical and extremely practical exercise. present in their lives; in this case, more important than being limited to the context of a certain philosophical concept, is that the student can be encouraged to understand it in their daily practice, and draw from it valuable lessons of critical reflection that will be useful to them in various fields of knowledge.
