My teaching method is to give students basic information about the art and let them venture into the new art form. It is a very expressive and creative kind of art form and I like to give them freedom to express their ideas and concepts.
First I will give a brief background about the art form such as ‘where it is originated, information about tribes and their lifestyle.’ This will help students in concept generation. After that I will teach them basics of Warli/Gond/madhubani art which includes forms, patterns, colours, compositions etc. Followed by few examples of paintings. Students can then create their own master pieces and present it. I will be there to give them any help or feedback if required. Just like all skills, it is all about practice practice practice! Which means there will be few set tasks or homework for students which they need to do in their own time to master the skill. I will also give them tips to paint on different materials such as fabric, glass and on different products such as cloths, wine glasses, lampshades, mugs, plates etc.
I think my class will be a good mixture of fun and learn. This is a very uncommon and expressive form of art and everyone would enjoy learning it.
I am a graphic designer. I have been doing and selling paintings in mentioned art forms for many years. I have recently started to do the paintings on fabric and glass as well.
