About Jose Rico
I am a professional multi-instrumentalist and music educator based in London with a degree in jazz and over 15 years of performing and teaching experience.
Throughout my career, I have recorded albums, toured internationally, and performed extensively across various genres. As a teacher in London schools and my private home studio, I hold an Enhanced DBS check (on the Update Service).
My broad musical background allows me to offer versatile, inspiring, and structured guitar lessons tailored to each student’s musical journey.

My Philosophy: Music First, Technique Right Beside It
I believe learning guitar should feel like making music from day one. We start by playing real songs and rhythm patterns—jamming along with backing tracks or with me—so you experience the joy of making music straight away.
From there, we naturally integrate technique, posture, and music theory step-by-step to build a strong foundation.
What we cover:
Real Music & Songs: Chords, strumming, and riffs tailored to your taste.
Rhythm & Musicality: Developing a natural sense of groove and timing.
Technique & Theory: Clean fretboard movement, reading tabs/charts, and understanding music in a practical way.
Exam Prep (Optional): Structured pathways for Trinity and Rockschool (RSL) grades.
Whether you are starting from scratch or want to connect playing by ear with solid theory, lessons are fully customised to your goals.

Jose is an amazing teacher! Very professional and patient. I would recommend him to anyone!
I have played many gigs with Jose and he's a superb and very tasteful drummer and he was my first choice when I recorded my own material-his knowledge of music as a whole would make him a great teacher
I had no idea how to play and with Jose, who's super cheerful, I can play many songs and enjoy learning new tricks every time. I really enjoy his lessons
I only have words of gratitude to José. Apart from understanding the student well, he does everything with dedication and patience. In a short time, I managed to see my achievements. Jose is the best teacher you can have. I highly recommend it.
