About Jonathan
Music should feel like a natural conversation between the player and the instrument. I treat every session as an opportunity to simplify complex theory into useful fretboard applications. Absolute beginners often find that clear, logical steps make the learning process much easier to manage.
We can discuss your goals for grade exam prep or focus purely on creative songwriting if that suits you better. I find that keeping the atmosphere relaxed helps students process new information at their own pace. Adults often appreciate the balance I strike between technical precision and musical expression. My experience helps me anticipate common hurdles before they become frustrating roadblocks for the player.

An MMus Voice from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama serves as the foundation for my wider musical pedagogy. Teaching 344 students over the years has allowed me to translate complex electric technique and blues progressions into manageable steps. I often work with adults seeking to understand scales and modes or the basics of instrument maintenance. My career began with 8 years performing in professional ensembles which informs my current approach to songwriting and theory.
