About Felix
With 5+ years of teaching and session experience, I am motivated to help my students in their understanding and enjoyment of guitar. Whether this is unlocking an initial interest for beginners or providing mentorship for those wishing to take their playing to the next level, I hope to inspire whoever I teach, from whichever background they are from.

About the lesson

The first lesson will be a 1-hour trial lesson in which we will discuss the student's primary motivation and goals for playing guitar. We will have a brief look at some prepared example pieces/exercises so I can then identify which learning materials will be most suitable going forward.
If the student is a beginner/intermediate and would prefer to take the classical approach, we will look at pieces from The Guitarist's Way series, where they will develop skills in reading traditional notation. I find these books are engaging as they cover a wide range of musical styles including blues, South American and Spanish music, all while learning the fundamentals of music theory.
If the student would prefer to take a more contemporary and song-based approach, we will learn how to read tab so that they are able to learn songs in a more direct way. We will cover core techniques such as strumming patterns and picking routines so that we can get as close to the real song as possible.
My core qualifications are grade 8 in classical guitar and a BSc in Creative Music Technology, which had a primary focus on music composition. I have been teaching for 5 years and have experience touring as a session musician.
My lessons are for all levels, beginner to grade 8, and are for all ages.
