About John
I am an architect and educator based in Brooklyn. I received my Master in Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 2016, also receiving the Julia Appleton Amory Fellowship from 2016-2017 to conduct research about the relationship between play, learning and design. Since 2019 I've been teaching undergraduate and graduate level architecture students at City College of New York.

I offer lessons tailored to each student's individual skill level - whether you're showing an early interest in drawing or design, are currently studying art, or are returning to it as a passion. Having taught design to teens through graduate students from all over the world, I appreciate the value of drawing as a universal tool of communication. My goal is to give students the tools to materialize their own drawing sensibilities. The point of drawing isn't just to make a "realistic" image (although learning the basics could sometimes be helpful), but to be able to build up an image with purpose, and to gain confidence in the sorts of marks your hand makes on paper. Out of drawing comes communication, expression and endless possibility. Who needs artificial intelligence to generate images when you yourself can draw absolutely anything you imagine?
