About Eric
Bio: I am a 30-year-old guitarist, music educator, and graduate of the highly reputable Capilano University’s Jazz Performance Program in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Growing up, both of my parents were music educators and began my piano lessons at a young age. After a solo backpacking trip around Europe, I found myself at a Jazz club in London, England called Ronnie Scott's where I listened to a band called 'the Kansas Smitty's House Band' and was immediately moved to pursue a career in music. Since then, I have afforded myself lessons from the very best in the world (Frank Vignola, Chris Eldridge, James Chirillo, Gene Bertoncini, Peter Bernstein, Bill Coon, Ron Samworth). This sort of mentorship has equipped me with the skills to understand how to help guitarists reach their goals as music lovers and artists whether they are beginners that would like to play a song, or professional musicians seeking to further their careers. Work Experience: Music educator for the last 3 years to clients of all ages and experiences / Performances at such venues as - Frankie's Jazz Club - Vancouver, Blueshore Theatre - Vancouver / Performance with Musicians such as - Frank Vignola, Jared Burrows, Jennifer Scott, Andre LaChance. Languages: English (native), French (intermediate) As an example of my music tastes, below is my arrangement of Billy Strayhorn's Lush Life for solo guitar: Thank you for your interest!

For a limited time, I would like to offer new students online lessons at a reduced rate! I look forward to our time together! Before we get to the curriculum, I want to say that primarily I aim for you to enjoy your time with me and with your instrument. Enjoyment is the stuff of music that will entice us to continue to practice and play. More than anything else, let's have fun while we learn! I've known Eric for many years and I can attest to how hard working and dedicated he is to his craft. He is an incredible teacher and takes the time to listen and make sure he is getting onto the level that you need to learn. Eric has an incredible wealth of knowledge and practical skills and has used his knowledge to help me further my understanding of music theory, history, and, of course, practice! Anyone looking to seriously 1 up their guitar game shouldn't hesitate to take lessons with Eric. Stellar professor!
Eric is a great friend of mine and an excellent musician and teacher! He takes time to develop material specifically catered for each individual students goals (transcribing songs, solos etc.) He is also a very pleasant and personable person to spend time with. I would highly recommend Eric to anyone looking for a guitar teacher.
I feel lucky to have found Eric to inspire me to dive deeper into the guitar. He allows me to play and then play together
finding my level. He is crazy about Jazz but also has practical tips for any genre. His facility with the guitar is impressive yet
he is very down to earth and focussed on the level I am at and ways to nudge me along.. An all round good teacher!Eric is a natural teacher and is able to easily explain complex musical concepts with ease. On top of that, he is friendly and caring and thinks deeply about how to deliver the ideal experience for each student. If I were to start playing music from square one, I would be incredibly lucky to have a teacher like Eric.
Eric is a passionate and engaging musician. Studying jazz at a university level alongside Eric has been a wonderful experience. Being the natural conversationalist that he is, there is no doubt in my mind that he would be a joy to study under. A lack of pretense and passion for music will make learning from him an exciting and engaging experience for musicians looking to cut their teeth on fundamental to advanced musical concepts. Music lessons don't have to be tedious and boring, and Eric will ensure that students of his will learn in a comfortable atmosphere to hone their craft. 10/10 recommend.
Eric genuinely cares about his students. He's patient and makes sure I understand the theory and concepts I ask him about. He notices when I haven't practiced If I get sidetracked, he throws a conversation curve ball to bring me back to focus on what he's explaining. He's a good guy and great musician when we work together too. Would recommend for anyone who is looking for a beginning to intermediate guitar teacher or theory teacher.
