I have graduated from University College London with a Master's degree in Health Psychology. I am a positive and hard working Psychology tutor teaching at GCSE, AS, A2 and Undergraduate level. Other subjects I am also confident in teaching and I have obtained A grades in GCSE include English (Primary - secondary level) and Maths (Primary - secondary level).
My enthusiasm for psychology started when I picked the subject at A levels. I became very interested in all of the modules and it quickly became my favourite subject. After studying hard I was happy and relieved when I was awarded an A*, which made me want to continue studying the subject in my Undergraduate degree. I continued to show the same level of enthusiasm at University and was even more fascinated by what I was learning.
I obtained a First class degree in my Master's dissertation and I am currently in the process of publishing it. Since graduating, I have been working within this field and I am hoping to get on to the Clinical Psychology doctorate to become a chartered psychologist.
I am also able to tutor students in Sociology (Primary - A level) since I really enjoyed this subject in school and received an A* in my AS and A2 exams.
When I’m not working, I enjoy dancing. I have been doing Ballroom & Latin dancing for over 10 years and it is a perfect way for me to unwind whilst also having fun. I also practice meditation and Bikram yoga, which helps me to relax and think more positively.
I have experience teaching and working with children and young adults for over 5 years. Some of the roles include: after-school club learning mentor, teacher's assistant (in a Special Needs School, nursery, reception, and primary school) and clinical support worker. Currently, I am working towards a Clinical Psychology doctorate to become a chartered psychologist.
I take a student-focused approach when teaching and really listen to the needs of each individual. At the start of each session, I listen carefully to what the student is currently working on and what they would like to focus on during the session. Then I create a plan of what each session should cover.
A confident learner is a successful learner and that confidence is crucial. I will encourage, not humiliate, and I will ensure that topics are pitched perfectly so my students can make progress straight away.
Teaching is a two way process so expect questions – lots of them! If any stumbling blocks have been encountered I will use a range of questioning techniques to get to the bottom of the problem. Once identified we can build the bridge and lay firm foundations on which to build.
I aim to do much more than just increase grades. I aim to inspire and increase confidence so that students can reach their full potential.
