About Vanessa
"You need a teacher who understands how to balance technical precision with the joy of playing. My journey began with an MM in Vocal Pedagogy from the Manhattan School of Music, which taught me how to phrase like a vocalist while I navigate the keys. Having spent 10 years in the classroom, I have guided 421 students through the nuances of posture, hand position, and sight reading.
It is a two-way street where I learn just as much from your unique musical perspective as you learn from me. I find that when a pianist understands vocal phrasing, the music truly comes alive. My approach emphasizes music theory and memorization techniques to make pop and contemporary pieces feel accessible.
You will find that I keep things light, focused, and conversational during our time together. My goal is to ensure you feel comfortable sitting at the piano bench each week."
