I am an experienced teacher and have recently moved from London to Scotland. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about my teaching and your requirements.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
My main instrument is the flute but I also offer individual theory and musicianship lessons, as well as offering piccolo during flute lessons if students are interested in trying it.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2010 with a BMus hons in flute performance and gained my DipABRSM with distinction in July 2016.
- How much do you charge?
£35 - 60 minutes
£30 - 45 minutes
£25 - 30 minutes
- Where do you teach?
I would usually travel to students' homes for their lessons or use a central Glasgow location for the lessons if that is more convenient. Depending on the distance travelled or the need to hire a space because of distance, I may need to add and additional charge for this but this will be discussed prior to any lesson.
- When are you available?
I try to be as flexible as possible when organising lessons and am available during the weekend as well as at the weekend. I prefer to make a regular weekly commitment within school term time, however I am still happy to teach during school holidays - this is a more flexible arrangement.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach flute and musicianship from beginner to advanced.
Individual theory lessons will take pupils up to ABRSM Grade 6.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I usually prepare my students for ABRSM exams, however exams are not for everyone so this is always optional.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a very experienced teacher, having taught a variety of ages and levels. I teach primary and secondary school children, from complete beginners to students who are about to go to music college. I also have experience teaching children with severe physical and mental learning difficulties and work closely with parents to create lessons that suit their needs.
Until August 2017, I had a busy private teaching practice in London as well as teaching flute and chamber music at the Royal College of Music Junior Department. I have recently moved to Glasgow and have been appointed as a deputy flute teacher for the Junior Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an up to date PVG check through the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I began my studies locally and then studied at the Royal College of Music Junior Department for two years with Alan Baker (flute) and Elizabeth de la Porte (piano). Following this I completed my undergraduate degree at Birmingham Conservatoire with Judith Hall, Jonathan Rimmer and Colin Liley (flute) and Frank Nolan (piccolo). Since graduating I have had lessons from Anna Noakes and Paul Edmund Davies, and was offered post graduate places at both Birmingham Conservtoire and Trinity Laban.
