About Nova
I am an undergraduate student studying Health and Human Services. My eventual goal is to become a clinical social worker! Helping people in need has always been in my nature, and tutoring is just one of the ways that I can use my own skills to aid others. I am punctual, determined, and lighthearted; all of these and more come out in my sessions. I have always loved teaching and learning, and I strive to instill that love into each and every student I work with.

I find there is a science to ensuring success that includes positivity, student participation and interests, communication, and more. I strive to align myself to this science when I tutor. I am always there for my students, making sure I check in on progress, personal goals and accomplishments, and answering questions at every turn. I encourage students to learn in a way that works for them, so my teaching methods are individualized to each and every person. One underlying theme, though, is reinforcement. Part of the learning process is celebrating the moment everything "clicks" in place, and that is important to me. I am a heavy planner, so no details go unnoticed! I put my all into tutoring, and the result is clear!
I have about five years of collective tutoring experience in Algebra 1 & 2, U.S. History, broad-field sciences, and writing (creative and professional). I also have test preparation experience with the SAT, on which I scored a 1530 on my first attempt! All of these experiences are both professional and personal, which helps me understand the perfect mix to help students learn best. I do best with intervention (students falling behind) and underserved students as that is where the majority of my experience lies.
