- When are you available?
I usually tend to work mainly Monday to Friday from around 3.30pm (when schools finish) until late (about 9.30pm) in the evening. I am also available some of the time earlier in the day and at weekends. I can undertake proofreading work any time as this is done from my home.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach both children and adults at the levels described in my subjects.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
GCSE English and IGCSE English.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Creative Writing and proofreading via email. Please note proofreading work can be done from a memory stick (after I had met the client) if they prefer to have their work proofread that way rather than via email.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I help learners to achieve consistently excellent results and receive very good feedback from learners and parents. Although I am rigorous and thorough in my preparation I have a very flexible, informal and relaxed teaching style which children in particularly respond really well to. I provide all my own teaching / learning materials (e.g. handouts) and an individual learning plan for each learner. The proofreading service I offer is extremely sophisticated, thorough and reliable.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Darren tutored my son from year eight through to year 11. My son was attending a failing school which ended up in special measures and he was one of the small minority to achieve 2 GCSEs in English. I found Darren's teaching to be constant and solid, and he was always very reliable and professional with an approachable manner. I was happy to have Darren in our home, and would highly recommend him.
Darren was my tutor for over 12 months. During our first meeting he thoroughly assessed my needs in English then prepared his teaching plan tailored to my imperfection which was presented during the second lesson and was executed thereafter.
Darren was always punctual and arrived with a very interesting plan for each lesson. Therefore my time spent working with him was not only profitable but pleasant as well. In addition I have to recommend Darren as a very diligent and trustworthy proofreader.I was struggling with my dissertation . Darren worked tirelessly to ensure that it ended up with the right content being left and above all that it made sense. I cannot rate him highly enough. Getting hold of Darren was one of the best things I ever did. He was very kind, honest and realistic. He exceeded my expectations and managed to make the situation enjoyable and cost effective. He has a wide variety of skills which allow him to appeal to anyone with their English writing. I recommend him to anyone.
My friend couldn't read or write. I wanted someone who was gentle and understanding. Darren was just that person. We could soon see my friend's confidence growing as she was able to do things that were not possible before - such as going go to the bank and understanding her grandchildren's reading books. After 12 months with Darren she can now participate in life ways she never could before. I would recommend Darren to anyone. He finds different ways to achieve results and is easy to connect with.
