About Joshua

As a professional in the field of Business Analytics, my primary role involves working extensively with large datasets to unveil the insights hidden within the data. Furthermore, I have a robust background in teaching Power BI to students with diverse academic backgrounds, including both IT and non-IT disciplines. The remarkable aspect of learning Power BI is that it doesn't require any specific prerequisites. All that is needed is a genuine interest in acquiring this skill and a commitment to completing assignments and assessments. Whether you come from a technical or non-technical background, I am dedicated to supporting you throughout your learning journey, ensuring that you gain a comprehensive understanding of Power BI.

About the lesson

Through your journey in the course, you will progress from the initial stages of learning Power BI, where you acquire the fundamentals of loading datasets, creating charts, and conducting basic analysis. However, this is only the beginning of what you will accomplish.

As you delve deeper into the course, you will gain proficiency in essential aspects such as Power Query for data cleaning and transformation, Power Pivot for advanced modeling & analysis using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), and the art of designing impactful visualizations.

Along this journey, you will develop the skills necessary to confidently handle diverse datasets, successfully navigate the ETL process, implement sophisticated modeling techniques, conduct comprehensive data analysis, and effectively present your findings using captivating charts and visualizations.

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
About 2 years ago, I received an email in my inbox asking for a Power BI tutor. I first ignored it, then later that day, I thought wait, probably should give this a shot. So I went for the interview and go selected. Prepared earnestly for the first class and stood before the students to walk them through the syllabus. What I soon realized is that I had a knack of visualizing concepts and then telling them as a story to students. The students loved it so much that they took my out for a treat at the end of the batch. Since I felt that I can contribute this way I continued to develop an interest for the field.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
Power BI is an interesting data visualization tool that does not require advanced knowledge to learn. It is very exciting to see students perform and execute great data analysis work just by learning the basic concepts of Power BI. What it requires is to learn the fundamentals the right way. There are always new things to learn in it and also excited about the new AI updates that are coming soon.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
The best thing I like about tutoring is viewing how different people can take different perspectives and learn the same concepts in a different way. The journey is very beautiful as you help them start learn the tool, explore with them, getting surprised with different and brilliant answers and watch them build their knowledge. And soon after, in the journey, become good friends for a long time.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
Teachers play a very important role during the early learning years. I would like to thank my audio science teacher, Mr. Jerry Emmanuel, who taught things with so much passion that developed a deep interest in the topic and would love to imitate a few things from him as well.
What are your keys to success?
The keys to success are as follows:-
Mastering the fundamentals.
Understanding the concepts well that you are able to apply it to any scenario
Confident in your approach
Learning to figure things on your own
