About Kieran
I am a professional guitarist and qualified music teacher with extensive experience as a soloist, accompanist, and band member across various genres including Rock, Soul, Funk, Folk, Latin, Reggae, Gypsy Jazz, Classical, and more. I play Lead Guitar for the band El Misti and we're about to release our second album in 2021. I have a Degree in Music Education from the international contemporary music awarding body, Rockschool, as well as Grade 8 Electric Guitar (Rockschool) and Grade 8 Classical Guitar (ABRSM), and an Audio Engineering Diploma (SAE Institute International). I have travelled the world extensively researching world music genres, especially in Latin America. During a 2.5yr journey through Latin America, I attended the School of Mariachi in Guadalajara, Mexico and performed with Cuban street band, Los Jubilados del Caribe, in Santiago de Cuba. I am originally from the musical city of Liverpool, UK, however in September 2020, I relocated to Mexico where I am continuing my research into Latin American music genres and sharing my knowledge with my students.

Perfect! Kieran is lovely. And an extraordinarily talented guitarist (I could easily spend the entire lesson just listening to him play). What I know is entirely self-taught so learning with a teacher and online is a very new experience, and the 10 year gap in my playing means I'm also horrifically rusty, but for anyone in a similar boat, Kieran seems unfazed and appreciates the need to take it slowly to start with. So I hold out hope we can achieve my ambition of classical Grade 5-6 level. He's very kind and seems up for the challenge!

Highly recommend Kieran as a guitar teacher. Incredibly knowledgeable, patient and explains things in a really clear way. Lessons are super productive but also fun at the same time. Can confidently say that Kieran has improved my guitar playing and theory knowledge more in the last three lessons than I've managed to in the last three years of trying to teach myself!
A gifted musician but also an inspiring teacher...the 2 are not always a given. My son said he learned more in 1 session with Kieran than in the years he spent with his last 2 teachers...and that it was the first time he had enjoyed it.
I’ve been learning with Kieran for the past two years, and I’ve learnt so much in that time! From day one he tailored his teaching to what I wanted to learn and what genres I wanted to play. He also challenged me continually and opened my playing up into new genres with new techniques. I was also really unsure of music theory at first and it seemed like a daunting task to learn, but Kieran made it really accessible and gave me plenty of resources for me to learn advanced concepts. Kieran is super knowledgeable and friendly and really goes out of his way to offer really high quality teaching. Cannot recommend him enough!
We have no hesitation in recommending Kieran as a guitar tutor. His friendly manner and structured lessons ensure that our daughter is keen to attend regular weekly sessions and progress. If only she was as keen to undertake her school homework as readily as Kieran's! His lessons are tailored to include requests to play the tunes she likes to hear. We feel that the combination of Kieran's clear abilities as a tutor and friendly manner mean that steady, confident progress is being made. We would recommend Kieran to teach anyone interested in learning to play the guitar.

Kieran’s teaching style is a strong mix of his friendly character and his astronomical musical education, this creates an atmosphere of comfort whist being pushed to become the best on your chosen instrument.
