About Jody
Having performed in professional venues for 13 years, I understand the nuance required to translate a score into a compelling performance. My MMus Vocal Studies degree informs a deep appreciation for musicality that spans into my piano instruction.
I find that technical mastery of classical repertoire creates a foundation for real artistry. My approach combines pedalling technique and dynamics with a sharp focus on expression. Developing memorisation techniques and ear training helps you connect more deeply with the keys.
I guide you through music theory and rhythm and timing so your foundation remains solid. Sight transposition and chord voicing provide the versatility needed for modern performance. You will find my teaching style remains precise and supportive as we refine your playing.

Struggling with complex passages is often just a matter of poor hand positioning rather than a lack of talent. Many students think that playing faster is the only way to improve, yet slow practice is the true key to speed. With 221 students taught over 13 years, I have seen exactly how to break down the hardest bars. My lessons prioritise efficiency.
Technique. We focus on the mechanics of your posture and touch to solve recurring errors quickly. You receive a short recorded playback of each session so students can review at home.
Watching yourself play is a great way to catch mistakes early. Enjoying the process of discovery is the best part of the work.
