About Kathryn
I am a life-long lover of reading and writing who decided to make a career out of that love as an English teacher! I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching. Prior to teaching, I worked in a variety of corporate purchasing jobs and would be involved in the review process with teams for hiring. In 2020, I decided to go back to school to go into teaching and have never looked back! I received my Masters in December 2022 (while on the job) and am currently pursuing my National Board Certification in Teaching for English Language Arts - Young Adolescents.

With over 4 years of experience, I have proven success in helping students build confidence in the classroom as well as out in the workforce. I have a strong love and enthusiasm for my subject area and it shows through my teaching style. I take a hands-on and interest-based approach to teaching ELA, using the student's personal goals and interests to tailor my lessons and approach to teaching reading and writing concepts. In addition, I have a previous background in office work and business, so I have experience on the interviewer side of the table and know what it takes to make a resume that will get you a call-back.
These lessons are for high schoolers as well as undergraduate students looking to improve their reading and writing skillswell as/or build a convincing resume.
