About Lauren

I am a 3rd year Spanish major with a double minor in French and History, I plan on getting a graduate (master's or Ph.D.) in Historical Linguistics or Philology. I have tutored high school students for the National Honors Society, as well as I was an official tutor for my University/college Spanish Department. I took a teaching Spanish as a second language course as well, so I do have some professional education when it comes to teaching a foreign language specifically to non-native speakers. I was also the Student in Charge of my College's Spanish interpretation Program, and I was supposed to be studying in Spain currently, but Covid threw a wrench in that plan.

About the lesson

I am a 3rd year Spanish Major, with minors in both French and History at Kalamazoo College.
-I would have to start by asking the student what they know, and have to go from there!
-If a student is a beginner I would ask them their reason for learning Spanish (this is because I love Spanish and really want to encourage them to love it too!)
-Afterward, we will start with the most important introductory points of Spanish (greetings, expressions of emotion, important introductory verbs, etc)
-As we learn from there, I will evaluate what the student is doing well and what they may be struggling with and acknowledge and reward them for their achievements but also work on what they can improve upon!
