I have been tutoring officially as a volunteer for more than an year now at my high school. My goal is not to only teach students, however, to also help them grasp and remember knowledge so that they can use it for the future. The way I like to commit to this idea is by having students first try out their problem or question on their own and if they are genuinely struggling to understand concepts, I would help them by giving hints, but not directly answering problems. This way, students are able to learn by themselves and understand the material more efficiantly. I like to think of this as giving your peers a little push for success.
