About Fiona
I am a primary school teacher with nine years class teaching experience. For the past five years, I have worked at an outstanding national teaching school where I will be working part-time as a year 5 class teacher from September while I study Psychology at university. I have excellent relationships with the children I teach and enjoy finding ways to motivate and challenge learners so that they achieve their full potential. I am a Singapore Maths specialist and have undertaken Maths No Problem training and regularly model lessons to trainee teachers. I have an excellent knowledge of the English curriculum and lots of experience in teaching both reading and writing through interesting texts which engage and inspire. As a year 2 class teacher for three years, I gained experience in SATs preparation. With my year 5 class, I have worked on verbal and non-verbal tests in preparation for the Wandsworth tests. I have an excellent command of German, having worked at a German secondary school as a British Council English assistant. I taught English as a foreign language at summer camps in Italy.I also recently hosted a class from a school from Hamburg as part of an exchange. As part of my teacher training, I specialised in Modern Foreign Languages and have taught primary French. I have tutored several children 1:1 in Maths and English and worked as the head English assistant at the Kumon study centre in Brook Green, W6.
