About Riley
My name is Riley Ashe, I am a college student graduating in 2027 at UMass Amherst, a top 75 rated university in the country. Academically, I have always been passionate about history, and it is my hope to one day be a teacher or a historian. I love educating others, but what is even more special to me is sparking passion for learning more than what I cover or know, which is the main driver of the pursuit of knowledge. Outside of the world of academia, I am an avid sports fan, middling chess enthusiast, and a lover of classic rock.

I am a believer in tailoring my teaching to the individual. If someone is bored by certain subject matter, it is my responsibility to connect it with something they are interested in. I generally prefer 45-60 minute sessions that begin with a broad overview, continue with specifics, and end with a recap and discussion about what we have learned. This last part is perhaps the most important aspect to me, because it allows me to gauge their understanding of the material and clear up misconceptions. I am best equipped to handle post 1400 AD history, but have enough knowledge of pre 1400 AD history to teach beginners.
