About Isha
I’m an undergraduate student with a strong background in English and the humanities and I enjoy helping students develop confidence in reading, writing and expressing their ideas clearly. What I value most about studying English is learning how to analyse language, construct arguments and engage thoughtfully with texts, skills that extend far beyond the classroom. I want to teach because I’ve seen how much of a difference supportive guidance can make. As a tutor, I focus on helping students understand texts more deeply, improve essay structure and develop their own voice in writing. I aim to adapt my teaching to each student’s needs, whether that means breaking down difficult passages, refining written work or building confidence for exams.

About the lesson

- I ask for any homework/past papers completed in school before I tutor them to understand my student's writing style, strengths and weaknesses. I then have a conversation with them to understand what they personally feel are weak areas for them. - I plan my lessons with this in mind, the first lesson is a walk through their exam board's curriculum, understanding and breaking down mark schemes as this is key in being familiarised with what the examiner is looking for. - Lessons that follow include a starter (typically on areas they struggle with that they do independently), and then we will work through either a worksheet or exam question together, and at the end we will consolidate their learning with an independent activity. - My sessions are typically 1 hour long, but some parents request 2 hours to split English literature and language. - My lessons are tailored to A Level and GCSE students, but I have also had students in the past that are in years 7-9, where we work on transition work to help facilitate and familiarise them with GCSE level content. - I achieved an A* in English Literature A Level and two 9s GCSE in both English Literature and Language. - I attended Newham Collegiate Sixth Form, and I am currently a first-year undergrad studying at the University of Cambridge.
