I hold a BA (Hons) Modern World History degree from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), as well as a MA (with commendation) in History from Northumbria University. I have also completed A Levels in Modern History, English Language and Media Studies.
My strength lies in 20th century American History, and I have completed in-depth work on the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements. However, I can also assist in teaching American radicalism, US Cold War international relations and US communism. I also have minor expertise in the History of the British Empire and 20th century British history.
I would be delighted to tutor in these fields to GCSE, A-Level and degree standard. I would also be happy to answer questions and tutor at GCSE level. Although I have expertise in these particular fields, I can also offer broader help with essay planning, structure and composition; grammar and constructing arguments. Additionally, I can advise on referencing techniques, which I know is an often troublesome thing to master at degree level, as well as being an excellent, helpful proof reader.
I am patient, approachable and most importantly, friendly. I have been through difficult experiences as a student myself and can provide sympathy, empathy and understanding. I am also a great believer in honesty, and if I believe that I cannot help you to the best of my ability I will say so, so please feel free to approach me with any prior concerns.
