About Zachary
Hey my name is Zachary, I'm a recent Mathematics graduate from the University of Ottawa. During my studies, my main interests were in mathematical logic as well as probability theory, but I have a firm footing in everything from group theory to calculus.
Beyond just mathematics, a few other things you should know about me: I have a deep love of history (especially the history of the Roman Empire, as well as 20th-century history), I really enjoy playing strategy board games (I've even invented some of my own), and I'm also a novelist currently working on getting my first book published (the piece is literary fiction).
I work full-time for the Federal Government here in Ottawa as a public servant. I have significant experience tutoring university and high school students, and I have lots of additional experience working with younger kids as a camp counsellor at Ontario Pioneer Camp.

I often hear people tell me that they think Math is the hardest subject to learn. While I can understand where they are coming from, I have to disagree. Math has a special property that is not carried by most academic pursuits; its problems can be tackled in many different and creative ways. So, due to this fact, I believe math can be easy to learn; we just need to find the way of thinking about these problems that works best for you. My experience and my understanding of math's special property is what I think makes me a strong math tutor. I'm able to look at problems in various ways, and as a result, I'm able to find the best way for my students to understand.
Lesson Plans are varied by the level of study and the desired content. Generally, my methodology is as follows: A little bit of mathematical theory, followed by examples that are solved in a slow and rigorous manner (with the various examples taking into account different ways to solve the same type of problem).
As mentioned I am available to tutor in-home and online for any level between grade 6 to first-year university.
I have past experience working as a camp councillor where I worked with many kids, including autistic children and children with ADHD.
