About Jon
As a kid in the passenger seat of my dad’s car, I remember listening to bands like Dire Straits, AC/DC, Primal Scream, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It had a huge effect on me. These bands inspired me to pick up the guitar and begin learning. I developed my technical skills through private lessons as I got older, honing my understanding of music theory and listening skills. This experience not only boosted my confidence as a musician, but also as a person, ultimately inspiring me to take on the challenge of a BA(Hons) Degree in Music. The skills and character building I gained through my lessons proved invaluable during my time at university. I perform with a professional function band and teach guitar privately, which allows me to apply my knowledge in real-world settings and deepen my passion for music. Today, performing and teaching remain my full-time focus, and I am dedicated to sharing my love for music with my students, helping them discover their own journey with the guitar. I have a varied taste in music that includes rock, country, pop, and funk, which allows me to appreciate and teach a wide range of styles. This diversity keeps my approach to teaching fresh and adaptable, making it possible to connect with students of all backgrounds, tastes, and ages.

Offering friendly and professional tutoring that puts each student's interests at the heart of each lesson. I offer lessons in a wide variety of genres such as Rock, Pop, Country, Blues, Funk etc. Alongside learning your favourite songs I can incorporate music theory and ear training exercises that help to build overall musicianship. I have completed a BA Hons in Music, I have 4 years' experience playing in a professional function band, as well as 4 years of private tutoring experience. Lessons are for players of any age and level. Classes will take place in my home in Crewe Toll, Edinburgh.

Perfect! My first guitar lesson with Jon was great. He explained things clearly with helpful examples and tailored his teaching exactly to what I needed.
He made sure I understood each step and kept the lesson at a comfortable pace. I would highly recommend him to others.Perfect! Had my first lesson with Jon a few days ago and i couldnt be happier. Immediately picked up on some bad habits i had developed and helped me to fix them as well as giving me some great guidance for my practice that is already making a big difference. Cant wait for my next lessons.
Perfect! Jon has been fantastic - very patient, relaxed environment which is exactly what I needed to start off. Tailored every lesson so far to suit my interests and needs - couldn't recommend him more!
