About Megan
Ever since I started studying geography at the age of 11, I fell in love with the subject. I have always loved learning about the world around me, growing up I often found myself watching nature documentaries, often by David Attenborough. This passion continued throughout my schooling, where I chose to study the subject for GCSE and then in sixth form as well.
I knew I wanted to go to university, but I had no idea what profession I wanted to go into. To me, the only obvious pathway was continue studying geography and learning more about the world in varying subjects. I spent three years learning both human and physical geography in many different forms, GIS, remote sensing, rivers, soil, and many other topics.
This degree has lead me into my current role as an Energy Analyst at Schneider Electric, part of their graduate programme. I have found a love for sustainability and working towards a better future.
All my experience, including as a tutor during sixth form and a mentor at university has lead me to enjoy talking to people about my subject and teaching them. I enjoy helping people learn and I want my students to enjoy learning. I will work with you to find out how best to teach you, what works for you may not work for others and it is important to learn the way you need otherwise you will never improve.

As I will be providing lessons remotely, my classes will be engaging through the use of videos and diagrams.
Geography is a subject best taught through diagrams, pictures, videos and colours to ensure the processes and topics are explained thoroughly.
A typical lesson will be around 1 hour long, and as it is done from the comfort of your own home there will be no travel time required. I would suggest having a notebook with pens, or and iPad/ tablet where you can take notes. There will be a small amount of homework each lesson to ensure you are learning what is being taught.
While I was at school, I tutored younger students in maths, english and geography. I did this on a weekly basis for my time in sixth form. I was a mentor to first year while in my second year at university, this was to help with activities and social life rather than academics.
My lessons will be mainly for GCSE students, however, I can also help students completing the International Baccalaureate as I sat that myself.

Details
The first session will be 30 minutes to determine the areas we want to focus on and so I can learn about your learning style. We will cover which exam board you are on, which topics you want to cover, and just a general conversation to get to know each other.
This session will be given as free so that you have a chance to determine if you want to continue working with me.
If you want to continue working with me, my sessions will be £10/hour, however, if you buy in bulk there is a discount, so £45 for 5 sessions, or £85 for 10 sessions. These can be spaced out as much as you like, can be 1 a week, 1 a month or multiple in one week. I would recommend 1 session a week to ensure you have time to consolidate all you have learnt.
