About Leo
I am a MSci Mathematics student at Imperial College London, currently in second year. At Imperial, I have achieved Dean’s List in my first year exams (Top 10% of the cohort) and undertaken a research internship in the field of machine learning. While this is my first foray into tutoring, my confidence in the material of GCSE and A-level maths, my experience in taking the exams myself and the advice of my friends who have tutored before forms a solid foundation to be able to take students far in their tutored subject.

I am seeking to offer tuition to GCSE and A-level students in the subjects: Maths and Further Maths; I can also offer advice to students taking the STEP exams, given my own experience of preparing for the exams and my STEP grades.
I plan to base my lessons around the two tenets of conceptual understanding and problem-solving. For example, given the material a student has covered in a week at school, firstly, I would take them through the heart of what they need to know from the material and how such concepts link to other areas of mathematics. The aim is to build confidence in the material, in the ability to go forwards and backwards through previously difficult concepts at ease and knowing how the different elements of the curriculum come together into a cohesive whole.
Secondly, the whole game of mathematics is to solve new problems however in the format of GCSE and A-level maths the problems students receive tend to follow implicit structures. My aim is to impart to student how to mobilize their previous knowledge, using common techniques of interrogating questions and other heuristics to solve exam problems however unfamiliar they might seem at first.

Being one of the best Mathematicians at Imperial, Leo is a reliable teacher - constantly knowing the answer, but also the intricacies behind the reasoning. He has been helping me with my Maths for over a year now, and I would fully recommend him.
He makes my studying unbelievably fun!
