I have spent a lot of time working in the field and my teaching approach is to bring this experience to the classroom. I first want to know what you, the student, would like to learn, where you are now in your knowledge and skills, and then proceed by using photos and instruction to help you learn and move forward towards your goal(s).
I have been in the field of arboriculture for over 30 years. I worked for many years climbing and rigging in trees, have operated both stick boom and knuckle boom cranes, authored over 20 articles for industry magazines, spoken at various meetings of many organizations including the Tree Care Industry Association and the International Society of Arboriculture, and presented training seminars across the country. I have also served on the editorial board of Arborist News magazine, sat on different boards and committees within the industry, and helped with editing numerous books, DVDs, and study guides. For the last ten or so years I have worked in both tree care and as a CFP.
