As a qualified teacher and lecturer of eight years I have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of learners in achieving their goals. I have a passion for learning, teaching and supporting people in becoming more independent.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
My specialist subject is English literature, language and linguistics which I have delivered at levels ranging from KS3 to Access for eight years. I am also confident delivering tutoring in history, media studies and education.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from the University of Sunderland in 2009 with a first degree in English Studies. I completed my first PGCE to teach A Level through Teesside University in 2012. I returned to the University of Sunderland in 2015 to complete a Masters Degree in English and completed a PGCE for secondary schools the following year.
- How much do you charge?
At present I charge a flat rate of £20.
- Where do you teach?
I tutor from my home however visits to students can be arranged.
- When are you available?
Generally I am available in the evenings between 5pm and 10pm to book appointments.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach KS3, 4, and 5, and undergrad level.
I teach from the age of 11 upwards.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Previously, I have prepared students for the GCSE English literature and language specifications on the AQA exam board.
- Do you have a personal message for students?

- What kind of experience do you have?
My first experience of teaching is at A Level completing a PGCE, working as student literacy support and also working as an agency lecturer writing and delivering my own short course to second language speakers. Since specializing for secondary schools I have delivered KS3 to A Level at Boldon School, Harton Technology College, Red House Academy, Farringdon Community Academy, St Joseph's Catholic Academy, Burnside Business and Enterprise College and Sandhill View Academy.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes I am fully registered with the disclosure and barring service.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained to teach with placements at New College Durham for my first PGCE for 16+ and Boldon School and Harton Technology College for my second PGCE for secondary schools.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
One of my students is currently studying on the AQA GCSE English Language specification; we have been working with one another for 3 months. In that time he has improved from a low to mid level four to a low to mid level five and is on track to achieve a mid level five in his GCSE. This will give him the entry requirements needed to move onto his level three engineering BTEC.
