About Lucila
Sitting at a piano bench in a small practice room at Eastman School of Music, I realized technical drills were only the starting point. I have taught piano for 13 years, focusing on sight playing, sight reading, jazz improvisation, posture, hand position, scales, arpeggios, rhythm, timing, and ear training. My students range from nervous beginners to grade exam candidates.

Setting the metronome to a steady click at the start of our time together helps establish a clear sense of structure before we play a single note. My 13 years of experience allow me to identify exact physical adjustments for posture or rhythm errors immediately.
I guide beginners and advanced students through repertoire that forces them to engage with sight reading and ear training consistently. We break down complex jazz improvisation concepts into small, manageable patterns that fit under your fingers.
