About Nicholas
Hi there! I'm Nick. I am a musician, composer and electronic music producer with several years experience in instrumental teaching. I offer lessons in music production, composition, piano and keyboard, music theory, and sound design.
I have many years experience teaching all ages and abilities, both privately and in a music-school setting. I have also lead music production workshops and lectures, and have experience in leading pre-school music workshops.
In any subject area, I help my students develop the tools they need to realise their potential. Music has been such a source of joy and satisfaction in my own life, and love helping people discover this too on their own musical journey!

I have a versatile approach, tailoring lessons to students' needs. I teach a wide range of styles and create lesson-plans which cover the fundamentals of music reading, ear-training and technique.
I have been playing and improvising on the piano since I was a child, and the keyboard has always been my first love for composition, improvisation, and musical performance. I have a particular interest in contemporary, pop, and jazz music, and can cover anything from learning your first pop song, to more advanced jazz harmony and improvisation.
As well as pop, jazz and improv, I have many years experience preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity exams.

Nick has been teaching my daughter the piano since 2015. He's a very personable, flexible and knowledgeable teacher. They have been following the ABRSM piano syllabus and he also tutored her for her Grade 5 music theory exam. She has also really enjoyed learning additional pieces which Nick has recommended around other areas of interest such as jazz and film music. I can definitely recommend him as a tutor.
