Music theory includes the following:
- notation
- key signatures
- rhythms
- scales and arpeggios
- sight reading and singing
- jazz and classical
- improvisation
- tuning
I believe that when you learn something you learn it properly, I enable you to develop skills and strategies to improve your practice and understanding so you can play more fluently and be capable of picking up a new piece or song quickly.
This type if education is essential for all musicians, beginner or advanced playing on your own or with a band!

Course setup
I am an experienced music tutor teaching piano and saxophone.
I have worked with many students and identified a real need to understand the theory of music to progress with playing for grades and for enjoyment.
I have played in orchestras and big bands, even a couple of ska bands (!)
This training will take the form of one hour workshops individually or as a group (if you prefer) and we will work through the Associate Board of the Royal School of Music grade workbooks as a framework.
These will be supplemented with listening exercises, singing and playing where appropriate!
