About John

I have been in the music industry for over 25 years, and teaching children and young adults vocal and breathing techniques for around 5 years. I also teach Beginner guitar for all ages.

Glasgow-based singer-songwriter originally from Paisley, known for my folk-tinged pop songwriting, soulful vocals and emotionally honest live performances.

Received major regional support after being selected as Track of the Week on BBC Radio Scotland, helping introduce his music to a wider national audience.

My debut album Beneath The Apple Tree established me as one of Scotland’s emerging contemporary songwriter voices, with later releasing Some Time On New Street earning praise for their mature songwriting and rich arrangements.

My single Waiting For Your Love received major regional support after being selected as Track of the Week on BBC Radio Scotland, helping introduce his music to a wider national audience.

Also featured in a number of interviews and music media pieces, including an in-depth conversation on Broadcasting Scotland’s Here and Now discussing songwriting, touring and Glasgow’s music culture, alongside feature coverage from Resonate Scotland and Tenement TV.

Known for heartfelt storytelling, rich acoustic arrangements and a voice that blends classic folk influences with modern indie songwriting, I hopefully continue to be a prominent and well-regarded presence in Scotland’s live music and singer-songwriter scene
