With 35 years' teaching and editing experience, I have the expertise to help clients express themselves clearly and confidently in English.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I specialise in editing documents both for people whose first language is not English, and for those who lack confidence in writing. My clients include MA and PhD students who want to produce a well-written dissertation or thesis. I also work with professionals in any field who need to communicate effectively. My service involves not only the correction of spelling, punctuation and grammar, but, more importantly, in-depth work with clients to make their writing intelligible and precise.
I work with students and professionals who have a specific aim in mind, such as developing and using language for academic, professional or technical presentations. I also offer support to people with Asperger Syndrome who need to improve spoken and written communication.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
Following my MA in English Literature from the University of Oxford, I obtained a PGCE at the University of Manchester, and an RSA Diploma in TEFL. I was later awarded a Teaching Certificate in the Alexander Technique, and most recently an MA in Applied Linguistics.
- How much do you charge?
I charge between £20 and £30 an hour for teaching, and £30 an hour for editing.
My minimum charge for editing is £30, but the final cost depends on the quality of writing submitted. In my experience, most clients want me to help them produce a text that is accurate, easy to read and understand, and fit for purpose. For this reason I provide a free reading and estimate, so that I can give a clear idea of the work involved.
I offer free informal telephone support to parents concerned about finding appropriate help for their children in school, and to adults who have been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, or who are seeking a diagnosis.

I work in the way my clients find most convenient, whether face to face, by phone, or online, using a combination of Skype and editing software.

Judith was helping me with writing during my study at the business school. Not only is she very professional but also really interested in what she does, which helped me to reach my study goals. Also, she is very understanding and flexible. My experience couldn't have been better. I strongly recommend Judith!
I would like to thank Judith for her proofreading of my master dissertation. She was there ready to help whenever i needed her advice. I appreciate your academic feedback and guidance and I definitely recommend her to any undergraduate or postgraduate student.
Thank you again.
I have been using Judith services for 4 years and have been 100% satisfied with her works. She will go the extra mile to ensure that your homeworks are returned to you on time. Judith is an amazing 5 stars proof readers, a focus professional and a trustworthy person. I was lucky to have found her. I will recommend Judith without hesitation to all.
Six years ago I came to this website for a proof reader to help with my English translation homework. Judith was the most conscientious linguist I had ever found, and then as we cooperated more often her literary sensibility impressed me even more. With Judith’s guidance, I felt I could breathe life into what I wrote. Editing my own essays became a pleasure rather than a perfunctory grammar toil. Since then we’ve been keeping in touch regularly. We enjoyed our time when we could meet and went for a poem reading, but often times, while at different places in the world, we got used to exchange long emails, discussing word choices, weird English metaphors or collocations that both bewildered and intrigued a foreign language learner.
Over the years, Judith supported me at every key moment, working with me on numerous subjects (because of the encyclopaedic nature of translation work), and on texts in a range of different forms. I am delighted that more cooperation with Judith awaits in the future!
Judith has helped me with writing for over 4 years. She’s responsive, reliable, and quick. I very much appreciate all her help with my many published articles, as well as my doctoral dissertation. Her work has been essential to me, in that it has allowed me to communicate my research both to the academic world and wider public.
I want to express my appreciation for the tremendous job you did proofreading my technical reports on telecommunication.
One of your strengths is that you are available at a moment's notice, so I don't need to panic when meeting report deadlines. It is a pleasure working with you.
You have a warm personal approach, and do your job very well. I hope to be able to use your help again, and I can highly recommend your proofreading services to anyone who needs your professional support.
I appreciated your help during this exam period. You are efficient and supportive. It was good to receive your clarifications. I came up with a very satisfactory translation inspired by your explanation! I also found your comments penetrating and to the point, which was very helpful for a smoother translation
My son. finds it very difficult to work with people he does not know due to his Asperger Syndrome. However Judith was extremely understanding and quickly built up a good working relationship with him as he began the process of getting his Asperger Syndrome diagnosis.
Without Judith's help and support I do not believe my son would have gained his C grade GCSE.
I have known Judith since my son was nine. He was brought up in Spain from the age of three to seven, and on coming to England was behind with his English grammar. Judith took the task on and today, at the age of 14, he is a confident young man ready to do his GCSE's next term. I find Judith a breath of fresh air when she comes into our house. We would not have got through these difficult times without her being so patient, kind and caring.
Thank you for your editorial work on my PhD thesis and for your help in preparing my viva. You are a great coach.
