About Elizabeth
I am a qualified teacher and Durham Mathematics graduate and have been tutoring
for over ten years. Subjects include Maths primary and secondary GCSE to A Level
and Further Mathematics, Science GCSE and German. Having struggled with Maths
as a child and seeing things 'click' has given me an empathy for students who
struggle with the subject. I work with my pupils to see what areas they need help
with and work through these areas going on to provide suitable practice and
preparation for exams and school assessments. It has been a delight and a privilege
to celebrate students' successes over the years and to help them move on to their
next step. It is also very rewarding to see students who once struggled with the
subject, now able to choose Maths as an A Level option having had a passion for the
subject ignited.

Rapport is so important in tutoring - a student who feels their concerns are understood and they feel relaxed will naturally perform better and be able to make the most of the session.
On beginning with a student I like to work through some questions with them to see what they are able to do independently and this shows me areas for development for future sessions.
Over time I would help with any areas for development by modelling the method through example and then the student tries questions for themselves to consolidate learning. Homework can also be set depending on needs.
