About Carlos
I am a student at the University of Calgary studying Kinesiology. I have a passion for education as I believe no matter where you decide to go education is the basic stepping stone towards a positive future.
I have tutored students in elementary English, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science before and Social Studies/Biology at the post-secondary level.
At the university I am currently taking classes in instruction, coaching, and leadership in which I am learning to better apply my knowledge of these subjects in a way that fosters a learning environment in which students succeed that is lead by empathy and compassion.

I base my classes on what the student is currently learning in the classroom and applying it to non-academic subjects that the student is passionate about. In science we might explore the water cycle through hockey positions, in mathematics we will apply area models to board games and properties.
If possible, I like to contact the classroom teacher as they have best knowledge of the struggles that the student is facing and ask what has worked and what hasn't. I also like to sit down with the parents and form some goals for both the end of the tutoring sessions and the end of the unit.
Classes will be focused on the student and notes will be taken regarding progress and abilities to better understand how the student learns.
