About Taylor
I currently am in my 4th and final year of university, where I have been studying Law and International Relations.
In high school, modern studies was the subject I most enjoyed and excelled at, and I achieved an A at advanced higher level in my 6th year.
I also completed an advanced higher in English, and highers in history, psychology, drama, computing, maths and chemistry.
I benefited from tutoring myself in high school after starting to struggle with higher maths, so I know how much difference 1-to-1 support can make in a student's performance in exams.
In high school I helped run lunchtime sessions with students in younger years to help them with english and computing, and at university I have been working as a resident assistant at the university accommodation for 2 years, where I have ran frequent study sessions and revision skills classes.

For subjects like modern studies and history, there are two main components to a student getting the most benefit from the class, and performing well in their exams.
The first is a well developed understanding of the events covered in the class, driven by curiosity and interest. The role of a tutor in this, in my opinion, should be to engage with the student in discussion about the content of the course, and to help stimulate their interest in the topics and their wider relevance.
The second key component is the critical thinking and writing aspect necessary for assignments and exams, with a focus on argument structure and how to adapt revised knowledge to exam questions. To develop this, I like to use short writing and essay plan exercises that we can then discuss and that I can provide feedback on.
In general, my teaching style prioritises creating a safe and accessible learning environment, that is adaptable to the needs of each individual student.
