About Callum
I’m a dedicated guitar teacher with over twelve years of experience helping students grow in skill, confidence, and creativity. I hold a Diploma of Music with a specialization in Guitar, and I’ve coached students for live performances, recording sessions, auditions, and music school entry. My teaching style is encouraging and focused. I believe in creating a positive space where students feel supported while being challenged to reach their full potential. I place strong emphasis on stage presence and performance techniques, helping students shine both on and off stage. Creative freedom is at the heart of my lessons. I guide students in exploring their own musical voice while building strong technical foundations. Whether you're preparing for a big audition or simply want to play with confidence, I’ll help you get there. Every student is unique, so I adapt my approach to fit your goals and style. My approach to teaching guitar is structured, supportive, and tailored to every student’s pace and goals. Whether you're a beginner learning open chords or an advanced player mastering fingerstyle or worship music, I guide you step by step.
I focus on building strong foundations through correct ergonomic technique, helping students avoid strain and play comfortably. Early lessons introduce open chords and power chords, essential for rhythm and song playing. Gradually, I incorporate finger dexterity exercises to improve control and speed.
I also train students to develop their musical ear through listening exercises, interval recognition, and simple melodic dictations. Music theory is gently introduced, including scales, chord construction, and Roman Numeral Chord Nomenclature, to help students understand song structure and compose their own music.
Each session is interactive and practical. I use real songs and styles students love to keep learning enjoyable. For those passionate about fingerstyle or worship music, I offer focused guidance in technique, tone, and expressive playing. I support every learner in reaching their full musical potential, with patience and clear goals.
Progress is tracked and celebrated, and I always adjust lessons based on the student’s interests. Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your skills, I’m here to help you play with confidence and joy.
