About Jude
Hi! I’m a guitar tutor with over 11 years of playing and teaching experience, holding a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music with a focus on guitar. I combine academic training with hands-on experience across multiple genres, including rock, classical, folk, and blues. This allows me to teach both technical skills and musical expression in a way that suits each student’s style and goals. I work with young learners and adult students alike, helping them build confidence while developing technique, timing, and musical understanding. My lessons cover everything from open and power chords to fingerstyle, improvisation, and music theory. I believe learning guitar should be fun, inspiring, and rewarding, so I tailor each session to match the student’s pace and interests. Through structured exercises, songs, and creative projects, I help students improve dexterity, ear training, and overall musicianship. I focus on both skill-building and fostering a genuine passion for music. My goal is for every student to feel confident playing their favorite songs, exploring new genres, and expressing themselves through the guitar. By blending theory, practice, and creativity, I aim to make every lesson engaging, productive, and enjoyable.

My teaching approach focuses on helping every student build a strong foundation while developing their own unique style of playing guitar. I start by understanding the student’s goals, interests, and skill level to create lessons that fit their musical journey. Whether it’s learning open chords, power chords, or mastering finger dexterity, I make sure each concept is taught step-by-step and applied in real songs.
I emphasize proper posture and ergonomic technique to ensure comfort and prevent strain while playing. Students also learn the basics of music theory, including Roman Numeral Chord Nomenclature, to understand how chords and progressions work together. I incorporate ear training and rhythm exercises to strengthen musical intuition and timing.
For learners who enjoy expressive and emotional playing, I guide them through fingerstyle techniques, dynamics, and tone control. Those looking to perform in bands or on stage receive focused training on transitions, stage presence, and consistent rhythm work. My lessons blend technical skill with creativity, helping students not just play notes but feel the music they create.
I use a mix of songs, exercises, and improvisation tasks to keep learning engaging and practical. Every session aims to inspire confidence, patience, and a deeper love for the guitar. My goal is to help students grow into well-rounded, expressive guitarists who play with both precision and passion.
