About Alex
Hey there, Music has been a big part of my life since I was a child. I grew up in a musical family. I started taking piano lessons when I was 5 years old. In High School, I began writing songs, playing guitar and bass, and experimenting with production. I fell in love with the art of creating music, so I decided to make it my career. After spending 4 years at the University of Cincinnati studying Music Production and Entrepreneurship, I gained valuable skills in music theory, songwriting, recording/production, film scoring, arranging/orchestration, and live performance. Going to college was one of the best things I ever did. In addition to a college degree, I've completed a number of jobs and projects for local music studios and venues. Currently, I am running a live recording business in Cincinnati with my business partner. I play around town frequently and help lead worship at a nearby church as well. Another dream I seek to fulfill is giving back to my community. For me, nothing compares to the joy of spreading love and positivity with music. I'd like nothing more than to help nurture hungry minds and creatives to be the best version of themselves they can be - because through music, we actively transform our bodies and minds for the better.

My teaching style is flexible. I want to help my students learn comfortably and confidently. Everybody learns differently, and it's my goal to help my students flourish in their musical journey, whether it's learning the basics of their instrument, practicing songwriting and production, or growing their music theory knowledge. I want to focus on building a strong foundation with technique, ear training, and musical intuition, while encouraging students to explore their own interests.
A typical lesson plan (30-60 min) consists of:
Warm-up (5-10 min) - Finger exercises, scales, ear training
Core Concepts (15-20 min) - Reading, Rhythm training, chords, harmony, and theory, depending on the student's level
Repertoire (15-20 min) - Working through songs the student is learning or wants to learn
Creative Time (5-10 min) - Improvisation, writing, transcription, production skills
Wrap Up - set goals and provide learning objectives for the week
