About Matt
Hello! I'm Matt, a friendly and passionate piano teacher who believes that music should be enjoyable, rewarding and accessible to everyone. Alongside many years of experience playing the piano, I hold a degree in Education Studies, which has given me a strong understanding of how people learn and how to adapt my teaching to suit each individual.
I enjoy working with both children and adults, creating a relaxed and supportive atmosphere where students can build confidence while developing real musical skills. Whether you're taking your very first lesson or returning to the piano after a break, I'll help you progress at a pace that suits you and make the journey enjoyable along the way.
My aim is to inspire a lifelong love of music and give every student the confidence to play independently and with enjoyment

My teaching approach is centred around patience, encouragement and building genuine musical understanding. I believe every student learns at their own pace, so each lesson is tailored to their individual goals, experience and interests. Rather than simply teaching students to memorise songs, I focus on developing strong foundations in technique, music reading, rhythm, ear training and musical expression, giving them the skills and confidence to continue progressing independently.
Lessons are typically 30 or 60 minutes long, depending on the student's age and goals. Each lesson combines practical playing with enjoyable exercises and clear guidance, creating a relaxed and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
I have many years of experience playing the piano and am passionate about sharing that knowledge with others. As a dedicated piano teacher, I am committed to helping every student reach their potential while fostering a lifelong enjoyment of music.
My lessons are suitable for children and adults, from complete beginners through to intermediate players. Whether your goal is to play for pleasure, improve your technique, prepare for exams or simply gain confidence at the piano, I will create a personalised learning plan to help you succeed.
