About Vernice
Teaching has been part of my life for many years. I first began helping students while volunteering at a community center in high school, assisting younger students with their homework. In college, I tutored elementary school students and continued tutoring independently throughout graduate school.
Later, I joined a local community college, where I developed and taught workshops in computer science and other professional training courses for employees. When the English department learned that I held a Master's degree in Creative Writing, the department chair invited me to teach two English courses. I quickly discovered how much I loved being in the classroom. I went on to teach as an adjunct instructor for four years.
With more than 30 years of tutoring experience, I specialize in creative writing, academic writing, argument, and critical thinking. I enjoy helping students strengthen their ideas, organize their thoughts, and communicate clearly and confidently.
Whether you are developing essays, improving writing skills, or exploring creative work, I'm here to help you succeed. I also offer flexible scheduling and am happy to work with students at times that fit their busy lives.
