About Javier
I am a Project Management and Project Controls professional with over 10 years of international experience across North America, South America and Australia, working across engineering, mining, infrastructure and project delivery environments.
I hold a Master of Project Management from the University of Sydney and currently work in Australia as a Team Lead in Project Services, supporting Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams across project controls, cost management, forecasting, earned value, reporting and project governance.
I am also the author of Project Controls: Beyond Spreadsheets and a selected speaker at Project Controls Expo Australia 2026, where I will present on AI, Project Controls and the human factor in project success.
Throughout my career, I have worked across different industries, project environments and cultures, giving me a practical perspective on how projects are planned, controlled and delivered beyond textbooks and theory.

My lessons focus on practical, real-world Project Management and Project Controls rather than theory alone. I explain concepts step by step using realistic engineering and project scenarios, adapting each lesson to your experience and professional goals.
You can learn Project Controls from the fundamentals through to Cost Control, Budgeting and Baselines, Forecasting, ETC and EAC, Earned Value Management (EVM), CPI and SPI, S-Curves, Progress Measurement, Variance Analysis, Change Management and Project Reporting.
I can also teach you how these concepts work together in Excel and, most importantly, how to interpret project data and communicate it effectively to Project Managers and stakeholders.
Lessons are suitable for university students, graduate engineers, Project Controls professionals, Project Managers, or anyone looking to enter the project management profession. No previous Project Controls experience is required.
