About Maria Luisa
I have had the opportunity to work with multicultural students from different backgrounds at all facets of societies teaching Spanish, English, and French as second languages for more than 20 years. I’ve worked in Bolivia, Canada, and France in elementary and high schools, universities, online, language institutes, and more. I am a native Spanish speaker and vastly experienced working with American, European, Asian and Latin American people; as a result, I am very committed to providing excellent education to the young and adults, creating challenges through initiative. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching, a post degree in Higher Education (Diplomado en Educacion Superior), a TESOL diploma, an Interpreter - Translator Spanish/English Certificate, and a Spanish Tester. All my studies were done in Bolivia, Canada, and France.

Through years of experience working as a Spanish / English Teacher, I developed expertise in imparting lessons to a group or individual classes in an effective manner. Particularly, I am well-versed in instructing students according to their needs and their best interests. I employ different methodologies and techniques to achieve a successful teaching of a foreign language focusing on the four principal language skills, reading, speaking, writing and listening, plus the sub-skills that come with them. I elaborate and modify my lesson plans to fit the given curriculum or depending on the type of Spanish that is required such as General Spanish, Academic Spanish, Business Spanish, etc. I took advantage of this COVID-19 global pandemic to improve my online teaching techniques staying current with modern platforms like Zoom, Skype, Moodle, WebEx, Facebook, and more to facilitate student learning. I make use of the eclectic method very well which adapts the best of the different methodologies which results in better language acquisition according to the student’s age, objective, or learning needs. Each class is engaging and adapted through modern teaching and blended learning. I am keen on monitoring students individually, being sensitive and providing individual and whole group support.
