Having to learn German myself after moving to a little town in Bavaria with absolutely no knowledge of the language, I understand how daunting learning a new language is...
I give lessons to primary school students up to GCSE's, sometimes even A Levels. I base my teaching on my german lessons I had back at school. I can help and improve their range of vocabulary, get them to have the right pronunciation and understand the language written and when spoken.
My approach for teaching is aligned to the syllabus along with practicals focusing on skills development. I believe learning language is not just learning words but learning and experiencing the culture. My focus is on developing skills in formal (business) and informal German speaking/writing.
I have run several educational departments, so I not only know how to teach students but also how to teach teachers. In addition to my BA in German, I have a Masters degree in applied linguistics, and am a very well qualified language teacher with two Cambridge DELTA certificates to boot. I take time to individualise my teaching for the student, and then make sure they are continually engaged.
Speaking listening reading and writing will all be taught along side my method will include beginning from scratch with the alphabet and general phrases and pronounciations
Teaching is a lot about personality. I will personalize my lessons to fit YOU and your individual language skills. As a native speaker, I am able to teach all levels but have specific German teaching experience at university level.
My teaching methods have been twofold: In the language school, I was teaching small classes via book, homework, individual vocabulary book, tests and conversation. My private conversation tuition was based on talking about everyday as well as chosen subjects. I enjoy helping people and I am a very open, motivated and smiling person who does not need much to break the ice.
I cover every aspect of German that they need to learn from textbook work to grammar and speaking correctly. I focus on doing one on one training.
German conversation lessons tailored to your particular needs and level of German. Depending on your level of German lessons will either focus on the basics of the German language or if you are an advanced student we focus on the particular topics you wish to improve upon. Homework will be given if the student wishes to. I offer lessons in Wandsworth and surrounding areas.
My lessons are all tailored to your needs - conversation, verbal skills, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, business or technical French. I base my methodology on fixing errors together in grammar and pronunciation. Always in a patient and friendly manner. Challenging, yet fun lessons to improve your skills.
My teaching is all about speaking. By engaging with interesting materials for my clients, I aim to quickly improve their spoken German. Depending on the level, I help to gain the necessary vocabulary and grammar to have or improve conversations and reduce the accent.
I mainly focus on speaking and improvements in pronunciation. With my past students I have often discussed the problems they face with their subject in school and worked on areas they felt unsure about during their GCSE's, which I finished at A*.
My teaching methodology is mostly learning through verbal communication as I believe that one can only truly learn a language by speaking it and listening to it. Of course grammar is of importance, especially to begin a language, so this is where I normally start to build a foundation before beginning to increase verbal interaction.
I would simply call my teaching method "learning by doing" There is no better way to learn a language than speaking it. What holds most people back is being afraid of actually speaking it. We start to learn the basics of course, including grammar and vocabuary, but in the end it's all about speaking it.
I follow my student´s individual needs. If it is preparing for school (GCSE, A-Level etc.), for a job interview or for conversation. Based on their level, I combine some grammar, vocabulary and conversation each lesson as I believe the best way to learn is to actively speak. The background method I refer to is DaF (Deutsch als Fremdsprache).
My name is Theresa Ammer and I'm a German student who is studying Law a the University College London. I have lived in Germany for most of my life and I love to share the language with other people.
